Elderly woman’s semi-naked body found in Jamshedpur

The incident has left the villagers of Nimdih in disbelief and shock. According to the local police, the preliminary investigation suggests that it is a case of murder, although the motive behind the heinous act remains unknown.The crime scene revealed a disturbing trail of blood around the elderly woman, indicating that she had been brutally murdered. The scantily-clad state of the body raises suspicions of a possible sexual assault. Nimdih Thana Officer-in-Charge, Tanzil Khan, promptly ordered the body to be sent to the Seraikela Sadar Hospital for a thorough postmortem examination.

OC Tanzil Khan commented, “There is hardly any doubt about the elderly woman being murdered, but whether she was raped before the murder is a matter of investigation. An autopsy report is expected to clarify the details.”

Gangadhar Mahto, the husband of the deceased, reportedly has a handicapped son, and there is no known history of enmity with anyone in the village. Sources revealed that on Sunday afternoon, Vimla Mahto had gone to her paddy field to water the crops but failed to return home. The grim discovery of her semi-naked body in the field the following morning has sent shockwaves through the community.
