Eighth election of Chaibasa Chamber on Sept 29

Voting restricted for non-renewed members

 

Chaibasa, Aug 28: In anticipation of the eighth election for the session 2023-25 of the Chaibasa Chamber of Commerce and Industries, the Election Committee held a press conference at the newly established temporary election office in Gandhi Tola, adjacent to the PHED office on Monday. The event marked the official announcement of the forthcoming election, setting the Chaibasa Chamber on a path of active electoral preparations.

Addressing the media, the Election Committee highlighted the implementation of digitization in select areas as part of their commitment to ensuring transparent and equitable elections. The committee also unveiled key dates for the Chaibasa Chamber elections, with nomination papers set to be available for purchase on September 6 and 7. The nomination filing period is scheduled for September 8 and 9 from 11 am to 3 pm, followed by the withdrawal of nominations on September 10 from 11 am to 1 pm. Subsequently, the scrutiny of nomination papers will take place from 2 pm to 4 pm on the same day, after which the name of the candidates will be announced. Additionally, a copy of the voter list and model code of conduct will be provided to the candidates on the same day.

The voting process for the election will be held on September 29, commencing from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm at the designated polling center, Rabindra Bhavan. The Election Committee will promptly tally the votes and declare the winning candidates on the same day.

To maintain fairness and integrity, all election-related activities will be headquartered at Gandhi Tola, adjacent to the temporary election office of P.H.E.D. The Election Committee asserted that any attempt to exploit financial or external influence will lead to the disqualification of the concerned candidate.

It was clarified by the committee that membership renewal is essential for members to exercise their voting rights. Members who fail to renew their membership by the specified date will be ineligible to cast their votes.

The Election Committee urged candidates to engage in door-to-door campaigns and encourage citizens to vote in their favor. The committee also disclosed the determined fee structure for the election, ranging from nomination papers to various office positions within the Chamber.

For the president’s position, individuals who have previously served one session as an office bearer in the Chamber are eligible. The nomination paper for office bearers requires ten proposers, while executive post nominees need two proposers. Members who joined the Chaibasa Chamber before the 2021-23 session are eligible for the executive post.

Seventeen out of the 21-member working committee will be elected, including the president, secretary, treasurer, vice presidents, joint secretaries, and executive members. The nomination of members will be made by the elected president, with representation from Chaibasa city, Chakradharpur subdivision, and Jaganathpur subdivision.

The Election Committee extended an invitation to all dedicated members interested in contributing to the business community’s welfare to actively participate in the upcoming elections.

Present at the press conference were Chief Election Officer Mr. Sanjay Choubey, Election Officer Mr. Pankaj Chirania, Mr. Mukesh Modi, Regional Vice President of Federation of Jharkhand Chamber, Co-Outgoing President Mr. Nitin Prakash, former President Mr. Anil Khirwal, Chamber Auditor CA Mukesh Poddar, former Treasurer Mr. Aditya Sarda, and former Joint Secretary Mr. Nitin Agarwal.
