Eight Jamshedpur sports teachers to receive APR Nair Excellence Award

Jamshedpur, Sept 2: Eight sports teachers from the city will be honoured with the APR Nair Excellence Award on September 8 at APJ Abdul Kalam High School, Mango. The award ceremony is being organised by Aman Welfare Society on the occasion of Teacher’s Day to recognise their remarkable contribution in the field of sports.

The awardees include Vivek Sharma (Tata Steel Sports Department), Azhar Hussain alias Tipu (St. Mary’s Hindi), Ravi (KPS), Anita (KPS Mango), Pratima (SS Academy), Sharmishtha Roy (Yoga Instructor), Chandan Kumar Prasad (Chess Coach), and Rohit Singh (Football).

Addressing the press, Dr. Afroz Shakeel, President of Aman Welfare Society, said that the organisation has been hosting the APR Nair Awards for the last three years to encourage teachers, coaches, and players who dedicate themselves to nurturing sporting talent. “Our aim is to celebrate the mentors behind the success of young sportspersons,” he said.

Apart from the Excellence Award, the Society also runs APR Nair Scholarship, APR Nair Sports Competition, APR Nair Pratibha Samman, and APR Nair Youth Development Program for students.
