Eid-ul-Azha celebrated with fervour amid tight security in Jamshedpur 

Jamshedpur: The city came alive on Monday as it celebrated Eid-ul-Azha with great fervour and enthusiasm. Devotees thronged mosques and open grounds for the special Eid prayers, marking the beginning of the festival known for its spirit of sacrifice and charity.

 

To ensure the peaceful observance of the festival, a comprehensive security arrangement was put in place. A total of 110 magistrates were deployed across the city, enhancing the security measures. This deployment aimed to maintain law and order and to facilitate the smooth conduct of the festivities.

City officials confirmed that pickets were posted at strategic locations, and round-the-clock patrolling was conducted to monitor and manage any potential disruptions. “Our primary objective was to ensure that the celebrations proceed without any incidents,” stated a senior police official. “We coordinated closely with various community leaders and organizations to ensure their cooperation and support.”

In preparation for the festival, peace committee meetings were held with representatives from different communities. These meetings fostered a spirit of unity and mutual respect, with all parties committing to a peaceful celebration. “We are grateful for the cooperation from all communities,” said the official. “Their support was instrumental in maintaining the harmonious atmosphere we witnessed today.”

Eid-ul-Azha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son in obedience to God’s command. It is celebrated with the slaughtering of animals, which is then distributed among family, friends, and the less fortunate, embodying the values of charity and compassion.

The celebratory atmosphere in Jamshedpur was palpable, with families gathering to share festive meals and engage in acts of charity. The markets were bustling with activity in the days leading up to Eid, as residents prepared for the festivities by buying new clothes, sweets, and other essentials.
