Jamshedpur: Security has been beefed up in the city on the eve of Eid al-Fitr, one of the biggest festivals for the Muslim community. The police have deployed additional personnel in public areas, including mosques and other places of worship, to ensure the safety of citizens and prevent any untoward incidents.
In addition to the increased police presence, the authorities have also installed CCTV cameras in strategic locations to monitor the movement of people and vehicles. The police have advised citizens to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity or objects to the authorities.
Speaking to the media, a senior police official said, ” We have deployed 2100 personnel across the city. We have taken all necessary measures to ensure the safety of citizens during Eid al-Fitr. We urge everyone to cooperate with the authorities and follow the rules and regulations to avoid any inconvenience.” Pickets would be posted and round the clock patrolling done to maintain law and order, he said, adding peace committee meetings have been held with various communities, who have assured cooperation for peaceful observance of the festival.
Jawans have been deployed at strategic locations in communally sensitive pockets of city especially in Mango, Sakchi, Jugsalai, Shastrinagar (in Kadma), Dhatkidih (in Bistupur), Masjid Road (in Golmuri) and Bhalubasa (in Sitaramdera). Entry of heavy vehicles to the city would be prohibited from 6 am till 11 pm tomorrow.
Eid al-Fitr marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, during which Muslims fast from dawn to dusk. On the day of Eid, Muslims gather in large numbers to perform special prayers, exchange gifts, and share meals with family and friends. The heightened security measures are aimed at maintaining law and order and ensuring that everyone can celebrate the festival peacefully.
The last Friday before Eid al-Fitr is known as Jumu’atul-Wida or Alvida Jummah, and it holds special significance for Muslims around the world. On this day, Muslims gather in large numbers to offer congregational prayers in mosques or other places of worship.
The prayers on this day are considered highly auspicious, and it is believed that Allah forgives the sins of those who attend the Friday prayer. The sermon on this day often focuses on the importance of piety, brotherhood, and kindness.
The last Friday before Eid is also marked by charity and acts of kindness. Muslims are encouraged to donate to the needy and perform good deeds to earn the blessings of Allah. Overall, Jumu’atul-Wida or Alvida Jummah is an important day for Muslims, and it serves as a reminder of the values of compassion, kindness, and forgiveness that are at the heart of Islam.
