Jamshedpur: Eid e Miladun Nabi, the birthday of Prophet Muhammad was celebrated with great fervour and special prayers were offered in mosques and shrines on the occasion across the city on Thursday.

The district administration had a tough time while managing vehicular traffic movement today as all major thoroughfares remained occupied following revellers of Prophet Mohammad took out a huge process marking his birth anniversary.

At the procession, which was organised by Tanzamee Alha Sunnat-o-Jamaat, united front of several Muslim religious organisations, over three lakh people, including children were on the road while participating in the procession.
The revellers had come in small procession from places like Jugsalai, Parsudih, Makdhampur, Telco, Barinagar, Golmuri, Shastrinagar, Kadma, Bhalubasa, Agrico, Mango, Azadnagar, Kapali and Jawaharnagar and had converged at Dhatkidih Community Centre Maidan in Bistupur.

On the occasion the Muslim society people came together to take out procession. In order to manage the procession 200 controllers and 500 people were made members.

People from Azadnagar, Jugsalai, Golmuri, Bistupur, Shastrinagar, Kitadih, Makadmpur joined procession and lead to Sakchi Aamgbagan. Food and sweets were distributed among the poor and the needy.

Moreover, contributions were made to support orphanages, asylums for the physically and mentally challenged, and widows. Special prayers are offered at mosques.

Religious leaders and scholars preach the Prophet Muhammed�s teachings. Stories and incidents from his life of morals, such as forgiveness, kindheartedness, bravery, wisdom, honesty, and peace lovingness, are quoted.

Senior SP Anoop T Mathew claimed to have deployed adequate number of RAF at strategic locations at Sakchi, Bistupur and Mango areas of the city , from where the procession was supposed to pass. ” We focussed on the procession and it was not possible for us to provide security at every part of the city,” he said.

As the religious procession made progress, senior superintendent of police, continued to patrolling the areas through which the procession crossed. “The religious procession taken out in the city marking the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad was peaceful.

No untoward incident was reported from any part of the city during this occasion,” said the SSP.
