Jamshedpur, June 11: In a bid to tackle the myriad problems plaguing the Krishi Utpadan Bazar Samiti in Jamshedpur, Anil Modi, Vice President of Trade and Commerce at the Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), has written to Parul Singh, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate. The letter highlighted the dire state of the market committee, which served as a primary hub for the purchase and sale of food products in Jamshedpur and its surrounding areas.
Modi outlined a series of pressing concerns, including the dilapidated condition of shops and warehouses, inadequate infrastructure, and security lapses, posing significant risks to traders and hindering business operations. Incidents of theft and deteriorating structures had become alarmingly common, instilling fear among traders.
To address these issues, Modi proposed several solutions, including the formation of a traders’ committee that would be responsible for maintenance and development, the construction of multi-storied shops to serve as offices and warehouses, and the establishment of leased shops for long-standing traders. Additionally, he advocated for the transformation of the market committee into an attractive marketplace, complete with amenities such as cold storage, improved sanitation facilities, repaired roads, and enhanced security measures through CCTV installation.
Expressing urgency, Modi urged the Sub-Divisional Officer to personally assess the situation at the market committee and take proactive steps towards resolution. He further indicated plans for a delegation from the SCCI to engage with the Chief Minister and Agriculture Minister to advocate for swift action on these pressing issues.
The concerted efforts by the Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry reflected a commitment to revitalizing the Krishi Utpadan Bazar Samiti, crucial for fostering conducive business environment in Jamshedpur.
