Jamshedpur: A high-level review meeting of the Health and Social Welfare Department, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal, focused on fast-tracking welfare initiatives across East Singhbhum. Held at the Collectorate Auditorium, the meeting saw participation from key officials, including Project Director ITDA Deepak Chaudhary and Civil Surgeon Dr. Sahir Pal.
District Magistrate Mittal underscored the district’s second-place rank under the Anaemia Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and called for intensified efforts to eliminate anaemia entirely. He directed all stakeholders to prioritize programs targeting pregnant women, child nutrition, and institutional deliveries.
Progress was reviewed for schemes like Savitribai Phule Kishori Samridhi Yojana, PM Matru Vandana Yojana, and Kanyadan Yojana. Specific instructions included ensuring 100% registration of pregnant women, conducting thorough ANC checkups, and increasing institutional delivery rates, particularly in underperforming areas like Potka and Musabani.
Malnutrition treatment centres (MTCs) in Baharagora and Musabani were flagged for underperformance. Clear directives were issued to identify severely malnourished children through intensive campaigns and ensure no MTC beds remain vacant.
In a major appeal, Mittal urged citizens to participate in the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan by adopting tuberculosis patients as Nishchay Mitras, fostering community involvement in health improvement efforts.
The meeting also addressed sickle cell anaemia, with 22 confirmed cases from 77,958 identified potential patients. Authorities were instructed to ensure continuous follow-ups and treatment.
In the Social Welfare Department review, swift appointments for 36 vacant Sevika and 87 Sahayika posts were mandated through Gram Sabha by January-end. Officials were also told to ensure 100% data entry in the Poshan Tracker App for effective monitoring of children and pregnant women.
The District Magistrate concluded the meeting by emphasizing proactive measures to strengthen health and welfare services in rural areas, ensuring a significant impact on community well-being.
