Jamshedpur, July 7: State Youth Congress Committee members Sunday burnt an effigy of BJP leader Subramanyam Swamy in Telco for making objectionable comment on party leader Rahul Gandhi. They also protested rise in petrol and diesel prices post Budget.

Leading the party workers, Paritosh Singh, state Youth Congress general secretary, said Swamy had lost mental balance. He said the Congress would file a defamation suit against Swamy.

Singh further criticized the Central government for increasing the prices of petrol and diesel. He said the government had put extra burden on the common man and farmers. He said the government had first lured the people into voting in favour of BJP. After winning the elections, the government is now implementing its anti-poor policies, he said.

The Congress leaders present during the protest programme included state Congress president Dr Ajoy Kumar, Sanjeev Ranjan, Gopal Yadav, Prashant Choudhary, Vijendra Sahu, Pawan Tiwary, Ranjan Mishra, Devashish Mahato and Mohit Topno.
