Education loan without security increased up to Rs. 7.5 lakh: CM

Ranchi, May 11: Chief Minister Raghubar Das on Wednesday said that students will be given education loan up to Rs. 7.5 lakh without security.

Previously, it was only Rs 4 lakh. He directed the banks to give loan to ST and backward community students and elevate their life style by providing commercial loan on easy condition.

Farmers should be included in Pradhan Mantri Fasal Beema through conducting camps. Women are being trained and the banks should help them get sewing machines. The CM said this while addressing the 55th review meeting of State Level Bankers’ Committee.

Das said that employment is a tool to eradicate poverty. Banks should give the backward and Schedule Tribe students’ education loan. Distribution of education loan among the tribal students is a good sign.

Praising the banks for doing good work under MUDRA scheme, the CM said that people are doing their business and employing 3-4 people. The state government is also speeding up skill development scheme and land records are digitalized which will enable banks furnish loans easily. He said that rural CD ratio of the banks should be improved.

Additional Chief secretary Amit Khare, RDD principal secretary N. N. Sinha, principal secretary, Forest and Environment Sukhdeo Singh, principal secretary to the CM Sanjay Kumar, CEO-cum-MD, Bank of India, Melvin Rego, regional director, Reserve Bank of India, M. K. Verma and other people were present on this occasion.
