ED raids former MLA’s relative’s house in Dhanbad; Jharkhand connection uncovered

Ranchi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has initiated a raid on the residence of Binnu Sardar, a relative of former MLA Dilbag Singh, in Bankmod Super Market Building, Dhanbad, Haryana. The ongoing operation, which commenced on Tuesday, is part of ED’s extensive probe into the alleged involvement of Dilbag Singh in illegal mining and money laundering.

Earlier in the week, the ED had concluded its actions against locations linked to INLD leader Abhay Chautala’s close associate, former MLA Dilbag Singh. The investigation spanned five days and resulted in the arrest of Dilbag Singh. Notably, foreign weapons were discovered during the search of his farm house in Lesser. The ED team meticulously examined his properties and scrutinized his bank-related transactions.

In a related development, the ED team extended its reach to the residence of mining businessman Gurpreet Sabharwal on Tuesday morning. Gurpreet Sabharwal, originally from Jharkhand, holds a mining site in the Jathlana area of Yamunanagar. This region has been frequently highlighted for its association with illegal mining activities.

The investigation gains significance as it aligns with ongoing efforts to tackle illegal mining practices in Jharkhand. Mining businessman Gurpreet Sabharwal’s connection to Jharkhand and the presence of a mining site in the controversial Jathlana area are under the ED’s scrutiny. The heightened focus on individuals involved in illegal mining activities underscores the commitment to combat this issue, with recent PILs filed against such activities, including one by Advocate Waryam Singh from the EC area, in the High Court.
