Jamshedpur, Sept. 28: Jharkhand State Inter district Junior Volleyball tournament kicked off at Ramdas Bhatta centre on Friday.
On day 1 of the tournament host district East Singhbhum boys and girls started off with a win. On girls category-East Singhbhum beat Bokaro 25-19, 25-12. Godda defeated West Singhbhum 25-6, 25-7. Dhanbad thrashed Gumla 25-18, 25-17 and East Singhbhum beat Latehar 2-0.
In boys category East Singhbhum beat Gumla 2-0 and West Singhbhum defeated Jamtara 2-1.
Earlier, Chanakya Choudhary, Vice President, Corporate Services, Tata Steel; social worker Beli Bodhanwala and Dinesh Sonthalia inaugurated the tournament. Also pesent were district volleyball association president Bhaskar Rao, Tata Steel sports department head Ashish Kumar, Captain Amitabh, PK Tiwary, Goutam Banerjee, Navkant Jha, Birdhan Marandi, Dharmendra Upadhyay, Arshad Ali, Balvinder Singh, Kamaljeet Singh, Suprabha Panda and RK Mishra. It is worth mentioning that after 33 years gap Jamshedpur is hosting state level volleyball championship.
