Jamshedpur: In a step towards strengthening horticulture practices and enhancing farmers’ income, 40 progressive farmers from various blocks of East Singhbhum district were sent for a five-day advanced training programme under the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) scheme.

The farmers were flagged off from the Collectorate premises by Deputy Development Commissioner Nagendra Paswan. While the initial journey was by bus, the participants will proceed to the Indian Institute of Horticultural Technology, Noida, by train for the training programme. District Horticulture Officer Anima Lakra and other officials were present on the occasion.

The training programme aims to equip farmers with practical knowledge of modern horticulture practices, including advanced production techniques, quality planting material management, protected cultivation, post-harvest management, and value addition. The initiative is expected to help farmers improve productivity and generate higher income from their agricultural activities.

District Horticulture Officer Anima Lakra highlighted that such exposure visits provide farmers with access to the latest technological advancements in horticulture. By adopting scientific methods learned during the training, farmers can significantly enhance both the quality and quantity of their produce.

She further informed that similar training and exposure programmes will continue to be organised in the future to promote sustainable and profitable horticulture practices across the district.
