Jamshedpur, October 9: With Durga Puja holidays commencing from next week, the management, faculty, staff and students of Srinath University in Adityapur organized a gala programme to celebrate Durgotsav. Among the varied and exciting programmes presented by the students, there were two dance dramas themed on women’s empowerment and Mahishasur Mardini or the slaughter of the demon king, Mahishasur. The students shared their experiences sat the university in a novel manner by narrating them through recitation of self-composed poems, drama presentations and songs.
HoD Dr Monika Uppal, while appreciating the programme and wishing the students happy and joyous festive times observed, “Ma Durga is the embodiment of power and the symbol of good prevailing over evil. By paying obeisance to the Mother and leading righteous lives, we shall be able to overcome all hurdles and attain glory.”
Senior advisor of Srinath University, Kaushik Mishra urged students to recognize the power that was embedded within. Speaking about women, Mishra said that every girl child was ordained with courage and like Devi Durga could protect society from the grips of evil. He said that it was the responsibility of every citizen to encourage girls to realize their vast potentials of courage within them.
Management committee member Shravani Rath said, “Our duty and responsibility does not end with worshipping Ma Durga during Durgotsav. Giving women their due respect and their rightful place in society, we will be honouring motherhood that will be our true worship of Mother Durga.”
District Transport Officer, East Singhbhum, Dinesh Ranjan advised the students to look ahead and move on like a clock to attain the purpose of their pursuits. Dr Ramashankar, Head of the Dental Department at Tata Main Hospital, while wishing everyone a happy Dussahera, congratulated the students for their presentations.
Sayanika Mishra along with student volunteers organized the Durgotsav programme. The anchors were Kumari Simran and Shubham Kumar Singh while the vote of thanks was offered by Musarat Sultana. Those present on the occasion included Anita Mahto, media in-charge Rachna Rashmi, Bhavya Bhushan, Jayshree Singh, Madhuri Kumari, Sweta Kumari, Eva Mundu, Madhu Sharma, Bina Mahto, Debopriya Sarkar, Chanchala Mahto, Ganesh Mahto, Vikas Prasad, Vinay Shandilya and a large number of students.
