Durga Puja: Jamshedpur police impose ban on movement of heavy vehicles for smooth immersion

Jamshedpur, Oct. 2: The traffic wing of East Singhbhum police has imposed a complete ban on movement of heavy vehicles- trucks, trailers and dumpers- from 9 am of October 8 to 6 am of October 9 for smooth immersion of idols. October 8 is Dashami wherein all puja committees brings out huge immersion procession which heads for various river ghats.
Between October 4 and 7 ( Shasthi to Navami) restriction on movement of heavy vehicles ( except for long distance buses) would be imposed from 12 noon to 4 am on each of the days.
Traffic DSP Shivendraissued an advisory for vehicles to be followed during the five festive days of Durga Puja.
” We want to ensure easy movement of traffic. We will strictly enforce restriction on triple ride in two wheelers . The cops have been also asked to keep a eye on those youths who engages in stunts risking other lives on the road,” said Shivendra.
The administration in association with Jamshedpur KendriyaDurga Puja Samity (JKDPS) has also earmarked routes for immersion of idols of the 320 licensed puja samity and has undertaken special measure keeping in view the swelling rivers after heavy rains.
SDO DhalbhumChandanKumar said that there has been heavy rainfall for more than a week and the water level have risen on the river banks slight callousness can prove fatal for the devotees taking part in immersion.
The district administration has informed that in order to ensure smooth and incident free immersion of Goddess Durga tight security arrangements have been made and, in this connection magistrates and police officials in adequate number will be deployed across strategic locations.
About 275 magistrates jointly with 400 policemen of the rank of officers will be deployed across 33 police stations to ensure incident-free immersion. In addition to this 2000 armed personnel of Rapid Action Force (RAF), Jharkhand Jaguar, Jharkhand Armed Police will be pressed into law and order duty.
