Jamshedpur, Oct 5: A 35-year-old man was killed on the spot after he was over run by a dumper near Hathi-Ghora Temple on Sakchi-Mango Road under Sakchi police station area at 3 pm on Sunday afternoon.
The victim identified as Ramchandra Sonkar, is a resident of Khatik Mohalla in Jugsalai and a small businessman.
The mishap occurred when the victim was returning home on his bike from Mango. He died on the spot. The local residents had, however, rushed the mishap victim to MGM Medical College and Hospital emergency, where the doctors declared him as brought dead.
Soon after the incident, about 50 youths, including the close relatives of the victim arrived at the spot and resorted to the blockade on the Subarnarekha Bridge, demanding compensation and action against the erring dumper driver.
This protest led to disruption of vehicular traffic between Mango and Sakchi for about two hours as Jugsalai residents set up a blockade on the Mango Bridge protesting the accident.
The protestors were demanding the police to produce the owner of the dumper that caused the mishap.
The protestors, however, lifted the blockade after the police convinced them that the driver identified as Sudhir Singh is under the police custody and they would also force the dumper driver to come to the police station for settling the compensation issue.
Cops seized the dumper and sent the body to MGM Hospital for postmortem.
