Jamshedpur, Feb 12: Dry weather and cold wave condition prevailed in isolated pockets of Jharkhand during the past 48 hours. Kanke, in the outskirts of Ranchi recorded the lowest temperature of 6.9�C today.
Temperature statistics revealed that most part of Jharkhand was in the grip of sub-10 chill. Ranchi today recorded a minimum temperature of 8.6�C, four notches below normal while Jamshedpur recorded 10.6�C, five notches below normal. Moderate cold wave condition was prevailing in both Ranchi and Jamshedpur today.

Cold wave condition was also prevailing in Chaibasa at West Singhbhum which today recorded minimum temperature of 8.8�C, six notches below normal. Palamau headquarters- Daltonganj today recorded a minimum temperature of 8.6�C, three notches below normal.
” The cold wind from the North will continue to blow till the time the high pressure belt persists. The north-westerly wind which is prevailing over Jharkhand, will prompt night temperatures to dip by at least two degrees in the next 48-hours. The downward trend is expected to continue for the next couple of days,” said an official. The senior Met official said that the minimum temperatures will again witness a slight rise after the next couple of days before taking a plunge again.
