Drug De-addiction awareness campaign launched in Jamshedpur 

Jamshedpur: In a step towards combating drug abuse, the District Public Relations Office, East Singhbhum, has announced the commencement of a drug de-addiction awareness campaign under the directives of District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner, Ananya Mittal. The campaign will run from June 19 to June 26.

Deputy Development Commissioner, Manish Kumar, inaugurated the campaign by flagging off an awareness chariot from the Collectorate. During the launch, Kumar emphasized the importance of educating the public on the dangers of addiction. He highlighted that the awareness chariot will tour various rural and urban areas, disseminating crucial information about the harmful effects of drug abuse on health, family, and society.

“The goal of this initiative is not only to inform but also to motivate individuals to renounce alcohol and other addictive substances,” said Kumar. Attendees at the event pledged to abstain from intoxicants, underscoring the community’s commitment to a drug-free life.

The campaign is part of a broader state-wide effort aimed at curbing the misuse of prohibited drugs. It includes stringent legal actions against drug smugglers and users while focusing on preventive education, particularly targeting teenagers and youth who are most vulnerable to addiction.

To ensure the campaign’s success, all relevant departments and agencies at the district level have been instructed to work in close coordination. A detailed action plan has been formulated to engage the public through various activities at the district, block, and panchayat levels.

The awareness chariot is set to visit numerous locales, spreading its message through interactive sessions and informative materials, ensuring widespread community involvement and education on the perils of drug consumption.
