Jamshedpur, July 15: In view of the rising incidents of train derailment, a team from SER visited Tatanagar. Three goods train derailed within a space of two days at the yard near Tatanagar Railway Station. Terming it a serious incident, senior railway officials visited the area on Thursday to evaluate the situation and a detailed investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause of incident. Divisional Railway Manager of Chakradharpur Rail Division Vijay Kumar Sahu along with Chief Safety Officer and Engineering and Electrical department officials from Kolkata visited Tatanagar and detailed investigation is underway.
According to sources, once the investigation into the matter is completed, officials and workers at Tatanagar Yard will also be questioned. According to reports action will be taken against several officials. Preliminary investigation shows that the rail track at main yard of Tatanagar where incidents of coach derailment have taken place, has been eroded. The thickness of track is also being investigated with precision.
On Wednesday night engine of goods train wad also derailed and earlier on Tuesday also a coach was derailed.
Railway traffic was disrupted following a sudden derailment of a goods train coming from Kharagpur to Tatanagar railway station yard under Chakradharpur Division of South Eastern Railway in the wee hours of Wednesday. The railway line, signal and point system were completely damaged in the mishap.
