Drive against social distancing violation in Jamshedpur, FIR against 50

Jamshedpur, April 6: As part of its strategy to curb spread of Covid-19, a team from district administration conducted raids at different shops and shopping centres. The team was led by NK Lal ADM ( Law and Order).

During the inspection, the team checked the commuters on the streets. He along with other senior officials visited shops at Sakchi market and arrested around 50 such violators. The police personnel, who were part of the inspection team filed FIR against 50 violators.

Officials of civic bodies like Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee ( JNAC ) and Mango Notified Area Committee ( MNAC ) with incident commanders  assisted the health authorities during the special drive.

All visitors to Sakchi market had to undergo the RT-PCR test at the Bazar Master’s office.  Similarly, visitors to other markets like Mango and Golmuri also had to undergo RT-PCR test.

 “ We are taking every step to control the impact of the second wave. We are conducting drives and warning those violating norms. Several violators has been nabbed during the drive. Fines have also been charged from several shopkeepers who were not wearing masks nor having sanitizers at their premises. It has been advocated that wearing masks and use of hand sanitizers are compulsory for all people who visit for shopping,” said an official.

 During the inspection, ADM directed the local authorities to ensure that all restrictions are strictly enforced and no complacency shall be accepted which would defeat the purpose of containing COVID-19 virus spread.

The district administration has asked all commercial establishments as well as the general public to ensure strict adherence to notified norms of lockdown and avoid all forms of gatherings and crowds.

Speaking in reference to it the ADM expressed concerns about violations of social distancing guidelines and closure orders. He appealed to the general public to observe the lockdown in letter and spirit warning of strict punishments for violations under the law.

Meanwhile, Jamshedpur police has also warned violators that FIRs under the Disaster Management Act and other sections of the IPC will be filed. An official informed that if anyone found roaming without a mask will be booked under section 269 (negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life), 270 (malignant act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life), 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of IPC.
