Jamshedpur, June 18: �I dreamt of pursuing MBA but the financial condition of my family was a big hurdle and I thought it would remain a dream. But Tata Steel has made my dream come true and now I m on top of the world�, said Nayomi Ilin Bari, one of the four �Tata Steel Scholars� selected for the 2-year full time MBA in Rural Management Programme at XIMB.
Nayomi talking to The Avenue Mail, said I came to know about the scholarship program from a man who runs a Adivasi Ho Samaj School in my locality in Kundiyadhar Village in Kumar Dungi Block, West Singhbhum.
�After completing my B.Ed from Loyola College Jamshedpur, I was posted at St. Mary�s School in Uttar Pradesh. I came on vacation to my home town, applied for the programme and after appearing for the exam on May 10 held at Tribal Culture Centre in Sonari cracked the GD and PI on May 16�, said an excited Nayomi.
�It�s a big achievement for me, thanks to Tata Steel,� said Dangi Hembram, one of the selected students. Dangi is a student from science stream and has been amongst the top performers of the jyoti fellowship program of TSTCS.
Another student Neha Vandana Minz said, �I work to supplement the income of my family as my father is unemployed and my mother is a teacher�.
Samson Sundi one of the four Tata Steel Scholars said, �After completing my BBA I was aspiring to study further but was unable to do so because of financial constraints, thanks to Tata Steel who have made it possible�.
Present on the ocassion Biren Bhuta, Chief, CSR, Tata Steel said Tribal Cultural Society has always tried to provide assistance to the SC/ST students who are needy and has helped them achieve their goal. Through the Tata Steel Scholars program we are providing Rs 45 lakh to four tribal students from East and West Singhbhum to pursue 2-year full time MBA in Rural Management from Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneshwar. The entire expenditure of their post graduation studies at XIMB would be taken care of by Tata Steel�s Tribal Cultural Society, added Bhuta.
Bhuta further informed, last year TCS had sponsored Suraj Gilua to pursue Masters in Social Works at TISS, Tuljapur, Maharashtra, while Savitri Mahali and Sukhlal Tudu were supported to pursue a 2-year course in Rural management at XIM, Jabalpur, Tata Steel Scholars is giving wings to the dream of students aspiring for professional education and would continue to do so in near future, Bhuta signed off.
