Jamshedpur, May 9: On Monday, several individuals from Ghatshila, Dhalbhumgarh, Bahragoda, and other places made their way to Ganga Memorial Hospital on Dimna Road. These individuals had all been recipients of life-saving surgeries performed by Dr. Nagendra Singh, completely free of charge. Dr. Singh had invited them to participate in the program. Some of them even arrived with some vegetables as gifts, which surprised everyone. Dr. Singh has been performing these surgeries annually in memory of his mother. At the program’s closing ceremony, Dr. Nitin Madan Kulkarni, Principal Secretary to the Governor, Jugsalai MLA Mangal Kalindi, and SSP Prabhat Kumar were present as chief guests. Dr. Kulkarni praised Dr. Singh, stating that in today’s world, it is rare to find a doctor who not only provides free check-ups but also performs free surgeries and even arranges for ambulance transportation for his patients.

He cited Dr. Singh as an exemplary figure for society. Senior Prabhat Kumar noted that he receives calls daily from patients requesting their bills to be waived off, and in such a situation, doctors like Dr. Singh are truly a manifestation of God. Dr. Singh shared that his father had passed away due to a lack of treatment, and his mother’s dream was for him to become a doctor, which she helped him achieve through her teachings while spinning yarn on the charkha. His mother advised him never to stop treating the poor because of money, and he took her words to heart, opening his doors forever to those in need. Dr. Singh’s mother passed away on March 2, 1997, and every year, he organizes camps in her memory, providing free surgeries for the poor. This year’s target was to perform surgeries on 400 patients, and so far, 365 surgeries have been completed. Dr. Singh has done free surgeries for over 15,000 patients thus far.
