Dr. Ajay condemns AAP sit-in protest

MP says there are several ways to seek justice
Jamshedpur
, Jan 21: The Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik) party, which is currently holding parleys with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to enter into pre-poll alliance in Jharkhand ahead of the April-May proposed Lok Sabha general elections, has disapproved AAP’s street protest on every issue of public interest.

The JVM, MP from Jamshedpur, Dr Ajay Kumar, has apparently condemned AAP’s leader and Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal’s sit-in protest outside Rail bhavan in support of the party’s demand for the suspension of three Delhi Police officials for disobeying Delhi government Law Minister Somnath Bharti’s order to arrest some Ugandan and Nigerian nationals last week.

“Jumping to street protest on every issue is not worth appreciating,” said Dr Kumar talking to the reporters at Circuit House here on Tuesday.

The debutant lawmaker, who himself is an IPS officer-turned-corporate executive-turned-politician, said street protest is the last recourse in democracy.

“There are several democratic ways to seek justice before coming on to the street which I believe should be the last step in realm of agitational programmes,” said the MP.

In a bid to justify the merit of step-wise agitation, the MP recalled the agitation launched by his party to resume repairing of the dilapidated National Highway-33 road from Chowka to Bahragora.

“We wrote letters to the concerned NHAI officials, followed it up with regular meetings at state and Union government level and lastly hit the streets,” said the MP.

Endorsing the issues taken up by the AAP in Delhi, the JVM leader said although he agree with Kejriwal on host of public issues but doesn’t not approve of hitting the street in hurry to make things done.

Dr Kumar, who is keen to stitch alliance with the AAP in Jharkhand ahead of the General elections, refrained from giving an opinion about the political factors that are seemingly behind the sit-in protest of the Kejriwal’s party in Delhi.

Responding to a particular query, Dr Kumar said discussions with the AAP top functionaries are at the preliminary stage and talks about seat-sharing, if any, would be arrived only when the negotiations reach the final stage.

MP writes to Jairam
Jamshedpur: The MP of Jamshedpur Dr Ajay Kumar has written to the Union rural development minister Jairam Ramesh, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren and state government officials to demand uploading of information regarding the economic Census conducted by the Government of India.

He said the previous Census was full of anomalies and that it contained 40 per cent faulty information. He said the government had erroneously included affluent people in the Below Poverty Line category.

Shubhankar nominated
Jamshedpur: Shubhankar Chatterjee was nominated as the public relations in-charge of the MP’s office by Dr Ajay Kumar. He has long been working for the Jharkhand Vikas Morcha. He has been asked to take charge of his work.
