Downloading apps and scanning QR code new trick of Cyber thugs in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, May 12: Cyber criminals are persuading victims to download quick support App and scanning of QR code to siphon off money from their account. 

In the latest such instance, Kadma resident Abhimanyu Lahiri was cheated of Rs 6.90 lakh from his account after scanning of QR code and a complaint was lodged at the cyber thana in Bistupur about call coming from 93942267906, 9707984967. The victim said that he had gone to Sonari and had do online payment and he had got phone call and message from two different numbers and asked him to do payment after scanning of QR code and then amount was withdrawn from his account. 

Similar complaints of cheating by cyber frauds using the same technique has been lodged by Kadma resident Bishwajit Dutta, Mani Ravishanker also of Eden Park in Kadma while a retired teacher from Manusmuria under Barsole thana Ashwini Kumar Sahu. All the victims had amounts withdrawn from their bank accounts by cyber frauds.
