Double titles for Jamshedpur’s Krish Dubey, Anushka Kachhap in Jharkhand Junior Badminton Championship

Dhanbad, Nov 3: Jamshedpur’s young shuttlers delivered impressive performances at the Jharkhand State Junior Badminton Championship-cum-selection trial, which concluded at the Indoor Stadium in Dhanbad on Sunday evening. The tournament witnessed outstanding play from Jamshedpur’s Krish Dubey and Anushka Kachhap, who both bagged double titles, while Ranchi’s Samvith Ramesh also claimed two gold medals.

State senior men’s champion Krish Dubey continued his dominance in the junior circuit by winning both the boys’ under-17 singles and doubles titles. In the singles final, Krish defeated Samvith Ramesh of Ranchi, while Aniket Singh of Ranchi secured third place. In doubles, Krish paired with Sujal Rakshit of Dhanbad to overcome Mojahid Raja and Shree Ram Ratan of Ranchi in the final.

Jamshedpur’s rising star Anushka Kachhap also claimed two titles—girls’ under-15 singles and under-17 doubles. She defeated Aahana Tigga of Gumla in the under-15 singles final, while Shambhavi Hembram of Ranchi finished third. In under-17 doubles, Anushka teamed up with Aniska Tyagi to beat Anu Shristi Oraon (Latehar) and Puja Kumari (Gumla).

Ranchi’s Samvith Ramesh emerged as a double winner in the boys’ under-15 category, clinching both singles and doubles titles. He defeated Rajveer of Giridih in the singles final and, partnering with Aniket Singh, defeated Krish Kumar (Latehar) and Prince Kumar (Godda) in doubles.

In the girls’ under-17 singles, Aqsa Firdosh of Bokaro claimed the title after defeating Anshika Tyagi of Jamshedpur, while Aahana Tigga secured third place.

Other notable results included Ladlee Rose (Deoghar) and Samridhi Hembram (Ranchi) winning the girls’ under-15 doubles, and Shree Ram Ratan (Ranchi) with Anu Shristi Oraon (Latehar) taking the under-17 mixed doubles crown.

Dheeraj Kumar, Sports Officer, Dhanbad Rail Division, graced the closing ceremony as chief guest and presented trophies to the winners and runners-up.
