Jamshedpur: Deputy Development Commissioner (DDC) Nagendra Paswan highlighted the importance of strengthening the monitoring mechanism for District Mineral Foundation Trust (DMFT) schemes to ensure accountability, transparency, and quality implementation. He informed that the district has 196 directly and 19 indirectly mining-affected Panchayats, with a total of 14,169 schemes sanctioned so far, out of which 9,675 schemes have already been completed.
The review came during the DMFT Governing Council meeting held at the Town Hall, Sidhgora, under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner-cum-Chairman Karn Satyarthi. The meeting was attended by MLA Baharagora Samir Mohanty, MLA Potka Sanjib Sardar, Mukhiyas, and officials from various departments.
The session focused on assessing the progress of ongoing DMFT-funded projects, identifying future priorities, and ensuring that the benefits of the schemes reach the targeted communities efficiently.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner Karn Satyarthi emphasized that the DMFT fund is aimed at achieving the comprehensive development of mining-affected areas. He urged Panchayat representatives to propose priority-based schemes through the Gram Sabha and ensure close coordination in their implementation so that funds are optimally utilized for local development.

Echoing similar views, MLA Potka Sanjib Sardar stated that if Gram Sabha consultations are conducted and projects are prioritized based on public input, development work will gain greater momentum. He urged Panchayat representatives to spread awareness about Gram Sabha meetings so that villagers can participate in shaping development priorities.
During the meeting, Mukhiyas presented suggestions regarding the basic requirements of their Panchayats, including roads, drinking water, and healthcare facilities. The Deputy Commissioner called for active involvement of all public and Panchayat representatives to ensure the timely execution and monitoring of schemes.
Among those present were Deputy Municipal Commissioner (JNAC) Krishna Kumar, District Education Officer Manoj Kumar, and other departmental officers.
