Chaibasa, Oct. 18: A district-level meeting of Sani festival under the Tourism Culture and Sports and Youth Department of the Jharkhand Government was chaired by DDC, Chaibasa, Anil Kumer Roy on Saturday at Vikash Bhavan with a view to spread the Sani festival in the remote areas of Kolhan, thereby promoting the art and culture of Kolhan.
A cultural programme was also organized at Pillai Hall, Chaibasa, on the occasion. Noted singer from the Kolhan region Sanjay Jirka rendered a mesmerizing song before the audience. Performers from Seraikela, East Singhbhum and West Singhbhum also staged various cultural programmes.
Addressing the audience, DPM J.J. Benjamin Tirky said that whether or not the government provided financial aid to the body the Sani festival will continue to promote art and culture in Kolhan. “We will organize these festivals even in the remote Saranda region, including Tholkobad, Kuchai, Saraikela district and Musbani in East Singbhum district.
He added that on October 26, they would celebrate their establishment day and a dance competition will be held on the occasion. Those present on the occasion included DEO Rajni Kant Verma ,Prof, Vijay Prakash, Jaggnath Hembrum,Tapan patnayak, Suresh Hasda, Keshav Praveen, and state panchayat officer Anil Lakra.
