Jamshedpur: State agriculture minister and MLA of Jamshedpur West Banna Gupta led district administration officials during the Swachh Bharat campaign organized at Gandhi Maidan, Mango, on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti on Thursday last.
Addressing the gathering, Gupta spoke on the significance of the day and appealed to the people to play an active role in making the campaign a grand success. He said the auspicious occasion of birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi should be utilized in contributing to the society. He said the cause taken up for cleanliness under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan was praiseworthy.
The deputy commissioner of East Singhbhum Dr Amitabh Kaushal, sub divisional officer of Dhalbhum Prem Ranjan, senior superintendent of police (SSP) Amol Venukant Homkar and other administration officials were present during the campaign. They along with the minister took oath to keep the city clean and make cleanliness a regular habit so that the country may become clean.
Addressing the gathering, the DC said the importance of cleanliness could never be ignored or denied. Keeping the household, neighbourhood, city and the country is the duty of one and all, he said.
District administration officials also carried out a cleanliness drive on the premises of the DC office. The DC, SSP and SDO participated actively in the campaign by taking brooms in their hands.
The administration officials said the district administration regularly took care of cleanliness of the city through Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee, Mango Notified Area Committee and Jugsalai Municipality.
