Jamshedpur: East Singhbhum district administration has begun preparations for Jharkhand Assembly elections on a war-footing. The work of rectifying errors in the list of voters in the district and enlisting new voters in the voters’ list is on in full swing.
Sources in the district administration said the work of revision and updation of voters’ list is being supervised by the district transport officer following the instructions of the deputy commissioner Dr Amitabh Kaushal. Contractual workers have also been hired to expedite the work to ensure its timely completion.
The DC has asked the authorities concerned to complete the work of updating the voters’ list. The names of voters who have attained the age of 18 years are being added to the list so as to ensure that the new voters are able to use the adult franchise right.
Earlier, the district administration had launched a campaign to revise voters’ list. Booth level officers (BLOs) were assigned the work of updating the list in their respective jurisdiction. The campaign was launched all over the state following the directive of the Election Commission.
