Jamshedpur : The District administration officials and representatives of the Central Durga Puja Committee (CDPC) today revised measures that are already in effect to ensure incident free and peaceful Puja celebrations that are to conclude on Monday, Oct 14 with the immersion of the Devi’s idols.
This meeting, chaired by East Singhbhum deputy commissioner, Dr Amitabh Kaushal, was convened at the district headquarters in view of exigent conditions arising in the wake of Cyclone Phalin that is to affect this district and nearby areas.
Likelihood of torrential rains have been forecast by weather office in the wake of the super cyclone.
“The disaster management cell of the district is active and is constantly keeping an eye on the latest information pertaining to the cyclone,” said ADC, Ganesh Kumar following the meeting.
He also informed that volunteers of the CDPC have been urged to cooperate with the district administration machinery in ensuring smooth culmination of the festivities.
“We have alerted the agencies to ensure quick response to any eventuality. The notified area committees of Jamshedpur, Mango and Municipal officials of Jugsalai have been asked to be on duty rounhd the clock,” said a police official present at the meeting.
Rescue boats, life jackets, tarpaulin sheets and other necessities required in the event of flash-floods are being readied to thwart any untoward incident, said the officer.
The CDPC volunteers assured of extending their total support in ensuring smooth and peaceful culmination of puja festivities especially in view of the cyclonic weather warning that mentioned heavy downpour over the next few days.
“We have assured the authorities of our total support and cooperation to ensure peaceful and incident free culmination of the remaining days of puja celebration especially in the wake of the cyclone effect,” said a senior functionary of the CDPC following the meeting.
