588 persons fined Rs 2.94 lakh

Chaibasa, April 12: West Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal has directed the SDOs of Sadar Chaibasa, Chakradharpur-Porahat and Jagannathpur subdivisions of the district to adopt all measures to break the chain of COVID infections following which 26 checkpoints have been set up to ensure face covers, masks are invariably used by people. Close scrutiny is being maintained so that social distancing is observed by individuals and organizations. People are being urged to take corona vaccines and adopt preventive protocols.
COVID norm breakers caught at these checkpoints have had to cough up Rs 2.94 lakh as cash penalties under Sec 179 (1) of the DM Act-1988. Fines amounting to Rs 54,500 were collected from 109 persons in the Porahat-Chakradharpur Subdivision, Rs 20,500 from 41 persons in Jagannathpur Subdivision and Rs 2,19,000 from 438 persons in Chaibasa Sadar Subdivision.
