Jamshedpur, July 19: The Narwa Pahad Displaced Persons Committee (NPDPC) held a meeting at Hadtopa Maidan and unanimously decided to launch a do or die agitation to demand their fair share as per the agreement of August 2014 reached in a meeting held under the aegis of the district administration between the UCIL management and the displaced persons. As per the main features of the agreement, the UCIL management was to provide the 62 displaced families with four employments every six months and creating income avenues for the family members of deceased persons among them and retired employees. NPDPC has announced that its members would commence their do or die agitation against the UCIL management Thursday, July 25 at late night.

However, it was decided in the meeting that a NPDPC delegation would meet the Deputy Commissioner to demand the implementation of the agreement of August 2014. If the talks with the DC fails, members said that they would have no other option left but to launch the do or die agitation as per plans on the night of July 25.NPDPC leader Somay Kisku said, The displaced persons have given their land and in return the UCIL management has to provide for employment either at its plants or by some other financial planning. But they (UCIL management) has closed the doors for jobs and other income generation avenues. They are stepping back from the terms of agreement.  The displaced persons who have retired have no sources of income. Outsiders are being employed and our rights are being annihilated.
