Jamshedpur: Jharkhand Vikas Morcha leader Dr Dinesh Sarangi today met BJP national vice president Raghuvar Das at his residence and expressed his desire to join the party.
He said he may join the party soon in case he is given a go ahead by the party leaders. Sarangi had won Assembly elections twice from Baharagora constituency on BJP ticket in the years 1999 and 2005.
He was appointed as the state health minister during the tenure of former CM Arjun Munda. He also contested Parliamentary election from Jamshedpur seat.
He had quit the BJP after differences arose between him and Arjun Munda. Sources said he may be made a candidate from Baharagora in the upcoming Assembly elections.
However, former BJP president Dr Dineshanand Goswami has also been recently active in Baharagora constituency. He may prove to be a competitor within the party for Sarangi.
Earlier, five JVM MLAs quit the party to join BJP. They include Phulchand Mandal, Samaresh Singh, Jaiprakash Bhokta, Nirbhay Shahabadi and Chandrika Mahatha.
