Seraikela: The DIG of police for the Kolhan range convened a meeting of senior police officials of East Singhbhum, Seraikela-Kharsawan and West Singhbhum on Tuesday to discuss strategy to follow up the incident of torching of four vehicles by Maoists in Chowka recently.

He asked the superintendents of police, sub divisional police officers and deputy superintendents of police to make every effort to ensure that the surrender policy of the state government for the Maoists bears fruits.

Maoists should be brought back to the social mainstream and given an opportunity to start life afresh with their family members, he said.

The DIG directed the officials to beef up security at sensitive places and patrol areas where Maoist activities were suspected or reported.

Maoists torched vehicles near Chowka in Seraikela-Kharsawan in an alleged attempt to threaten local contractors and extort levy from them, sources said.
