Dhanbad Police uncover large haul of illegal liquor

Dhanbad, August 21: Following a tip-off about large-scale illegal liquor trafficking from Jamtara to Dhanbad, a raid was executed by the East Tundi police. On the evening of August 20, at around 9:35 PM, a TATA ACE vehicle (No. JH11AM-9251) was signalled to stop by the police near village Latani. However, the driver, upon seeing the police, drove erratically and attempted to escape. After a brief pursuit, the driver abandoned the vehicle near village Halkatta and fled into the darkness.

Upon searching the abandoned vehicle, the police discovered a substantial quantity of illegal liquor hidden in its lower compartments. The seizure included 250 bottles of Royal Stage liquor and 66 bottles of Imperial Blue, totalling 316 bottles. The vehicle and the liquor were confiscated and taken to the East Tundi police station. A case has been registered under sections 274/275/292/317(5)/318(4)/3(5) BNS and 47(a) of the Jharkhand Excise Act against the driver and the vehicle’s owner.

The raid was carried out under the leadership of PU Madan Choudhary, the in-charge of East Tundi police station, with the assistance of SHO Veer Abhimanyu and reserve guards Havildar Mangru Mahato, Officer-1041 Ranthu Kumar Gope, and AA-2138 Ajay Singh.
