DG appreciates Rotary members for engaging in social activities

Jamshedpur, Feb 13: Rajan Gandotra, District Governor of Rotary District 3250 on his official visit to Rotary Club of Jamshedpur inspected various projects of the club, analyzed it and suggested further actions. DG Rajan Gandotra along with first lady Anju Gandotra is going round visiting projects of the club undertaken in spite of Covid-19 pandemic. He appreciated the club members for engaging in social and productive activities despite testing times.  

DG also elaborated the Rotary theme of this year, coined by RI President “Rotary opens opportunities”.

It is worth mentioning that this year Rotary Club of Jamshedpur under the able stewardship of President DN Jena has committed itself to largely help the rural community around the steel city. In spite of pandemic and lockdown virtual weekly meetings were held uninterrupted.

The club undertook various activities during Covid-19 pandemic including distribution of free meals in villages, members also donated cellphones and laptops to deserving poor children, donated PPE to hospitals, distributed blankets among needy, provided oxygen to Covid-19 patients, the club members also provided financial assistance to barbers during lockdown with financial aid, conducted eye surgery camp etc.  

Club’s new projects this year includes a dialysis centre at St. Joseph Hospital near Bhelaipahari , water kiosk at the exit point of Tatanagar Rly station, rural play school at Palasbani, construction of toilet and in government school at Karandih etc.   

The club is consolidating ongoing projects like mother and child health at Bhelaipahari and Mimansi at Keruadongri, Rotary shelter and Rotary Saheli Centre.

Besides community service projects, the club added eleven new members taking the tally to 117 thereby becoming one of the biggest clubs in the RID 3250.

Also present were Past District Governors of Rotary Club of Jamshedpur and other senior Rotarians of the club.
