DG appreciates functioning of Rotary Deeksha centre

Jamshedpur: Rotary District 3250 Governor (DG) Vivek Kumar visited Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West as part of his official visit of the Club on 4th November, 2017.

The official club visit is one of the most important events in the club�s calendar as the District Governor takes first-hand note of the club�s proceedings and visits important project sites run by the club.

The day started with mandatory paper work at a city hotel in the presence of club President Achinto Banerjee, Secretary Aklavya Ranjan and President Elect Dr Rita Jha.

The District Governor sees necessary documents supporting club�s administrative and financials of the club.
After completing with paper work he visited Harisundarpur village, which was adopted with corporate partner Jusco USCO. He interacted with students of government schools and villagers and listened to their experiences of how the developmental work undertaken in past two years have changed their lives for the betterment.

After Harisundarpur, he visited �Gurukul,� a Global Grant Project. It is a free residential school for the orphans and the underprivileged at village Sapra where he listened to the Sanskrit verses recited by children, watched their beautiful yoga postures and progress in academics.

After Gurukul, Vivek Kumar arrived at Deeksha centre at Sonari, where he was given accorded a traditional welcome.

The District Governor was informed about the vocational training, toddler�s school, Computer classes, weekly clinic, old clothes bank, toy bank and various other programmes being run by the club. He took a look at functioning of Rotary Deeksha centre and appreciated the same.
Last he visited Birsa Basti where Adult literacy classes are held for ladies. Ladies present shared their new-found joy of being able to read and write.

In the afternoon, at the Club Assembly at Institute of Engineers, the President along with board members showed their presentation on the ongoing activities of the club as well as its future plans. Interactors and Rotaractors along with their moderators presented a brief account of their social activities as well as future plans before the Distict Governor Vivek Kumar.

General Meeting with all Club members and guests from other Rotary Clubs was held on 5th November, 2017 at Institute of Engineers hall in the evening.

Distict Governor Rtn Vivek Kumar appreciated the work done by Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West, their future plans and shared his suggestions for improvement. He urged members to continue their fight against illiteracy and make India literate.

Vice President Shweta Chand thanked everyone for their participation. Sergeant-at-arms report was read by Sunil Bagrodia. Meeting was adjourned followed by fellowship.
