Titlagarh Ispat Superfast Express gets derail at

Jamshedpur, Aug. 2: Train services between Howrah and Tatanager under South Eastern Railway was hit for several hours on Thursday following derailment of the engine and a luggage van of 12871 Howrah-Titlagarh Ispat Superfast Express while the train was entering the platform from Howrah yard. The train goes via Tatanagar.

The train was scheduled to leave from platform no. 21 at 6.55 am but due to the derailment the train was rescheduled. It started journey at around 1 pm after a delay of about six hours. The train reached Tatanagar railway station at 5.35 pm. Several passengers who were supposed to travel to Titlagarh and other destinations cancelled their tickets.

Following the derailment, over half-a dozen trains had to be short terminated at Santragachi. Some of the trains included Puri-Howrah Sri Jagannath Express LTT-Howrah JnaneshwariExpress, Mumbai-Howrah Mailand Jagdalpur-Howrah Express. Apart from this, two local trains were short terminated at Santragachi.

Confirming the derailment, an official of South Eastern Railway said that three Up and Down local trains between Howrah and Panskura had to be cancelled due to the derailment.

“We have called a probe into the incident. The derailed engine and the luggage van was removed and normal train services were restored around noon,” he said.
Railway officials said the the Howrah- BarbilJanshatabdi Express today ran on its normal schedule while the return train was delayed by about half-an-hour.
Tatanagar railway station witnesses a daily traffic of over 90- mail, express and passenger trains which either originate from Tatanagar of go via that station. The daily passenger footfall is close to 50,000.
