Jharkhand Govt announces 9% DA hike
Jharkhand Cabinet approves waiver of Rs 3,584 crore in power dues
Ranchi: The Jharkhand cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Hemant Soren approved the waiver of Rs 3,584 crore in power dues for approximately 39.44 lakh consumers benefiting from the 200-unit free electricity scheme on Thursday. The decision aims to relieve financial burdens on domestic consumers enrolled under the Mukhyamantri Urja Khushali Yojana.
Cabinet Secretary Vandana Dadel confirmed the waiver and said, “Following this cabinet approval, these consumers will no longer need to pay the arrear bills.”
The cabinet has also approved an increase in dearness allowance for government employees, raising it from 230 percent to 239 percent. This adjustment is expected to provide substantial financial relief to the state’s employees, reflecting the government’s dedication to improving their economic conditions.
A major highlight of the cabinet meeting was the decision to extend financial assistance and government job opportunities to the families of martyred Agniveers. Chief Minister Hemant Soren emphasized that these families would receive the same respect and support as the personnel of the Jharkhand Police.
The initiative is intended to honor the sacrifices made by the Agniveers and ensure their dependents are well-supported both financially and through employment opportunities. The provision of government jobs and financial aid aims to provide long-term support to these families.
Following the cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Hemant Soren reaffirmed the government’s sensitivity towards the needs of various communities, including tribals, Dalits, and minorities. He highlighted the administration’s ongoing efforts to address social issues and provide relief to those in need. The recent decisions underscore the government’s commitment to social justice and its proactive approach in tackling the economic challenges faced by the state’s residents.
The cabinet’s approval of 44 proposals marks a significant step in Jharkhand’s reform agenda. These measures include financial aid for fallen soldiers’ families, job placements for their dependents, and extensive utility bill waivers. The comprehensive nature of these proposals reflects the government’s broader strategy to enhance the welfare of its citizens and reinforce its commitment to equitable development.
