DEO and SSP inspect EVM facilities in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: The District Election Officer and Senior Superintendent of Police conducted a thorough inspection of the EVM dispatch/receiving center and EVM warehouse. They reviewed various aspects including route plans, communication plans, security arrangements, and traffic arrangements, issuing necessary guidelines.

In the presence of political party agents, the process of shifting EVMs commenced in the strong rooms designated for each assembly constituency. The entire premises will be sealed, with tight security arrangements in place.

District Election Officer Ananya Mittal and Senior Superintendent of Police Mr. Kishore Kaushal led the inspection at Co-operative College, LBSM College, and the EVM warehouse located at Kitadih. Other officials including Deputy Development Commissioner  Manish Kumar, City SP  Mukesh Lunayat, Rural SP Rishabh Garg, and administrative and police personnel were also present.

EVMs from various constituencies are set to be dispatched from different locations, with the receiving center at the co-operative college. The inspection included a review of route plans, communication plans, security arrangements, and traffic arrangements.

Strict measures were emphasized regarding the safekeeping of EVMs, including barricading, 24×7 CCTV surveillance, security arrangements, parking, and traffic management. Instructions were issued to ensure EVM shifting is conducted only through GPS-fitted vehicles. Additionally, guidelines were provided for sealing and surveillance of the strong room, with strict protocols for entry and record-keeping.

Magistrates, police officers, and the police force were directed to prevent unauthorized access to the strong room and maintain up-to-date logs of guards. These measures aim to uphold the integrity and security of the electoral process leading up to the Lok Sabha elections 2024.
