Jamshedpur: With winter in full bloom, bringing much-needed respite from the scorching heat of previous months, residents of Jamshedpur are flocking to popular picnic spots to enjoy the cooler weather. Destinations like Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary, Dimna Lake, Jubilee Park, and Tata Zoological Park are buzzing with activity, with families, friends, and adventure enthusiasts making the most of the season.

Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary, known for its diverse flora and fauna, has emerged as a favorite among nature lovers. The dense forests, interspersed with open grasslands and water bodies, offer an idyllic setting for picnics and nature walks. “The sanctuary truly comes alive during the winter. It’s a fantastic place to relax and connect with nature,” remarked Shakeel Ahmed, a school teacher and frequent visitor. Youngsters, too, are enjoying the thrill of trekking through the rocky terrain, testing their stamina and exploring the sanctuary’s rugged beauty.

Dimna Lake and Jubilee Park have also become hotspots for families seeking a serene outing. The calm waters of Dimna Lake provide opportunities for boating, while Jubilee Park’s lush greenery and open spaces are perfect for group gatherings. Meanwhile, Tata Zoological Park continues to attract crowds, offering visitors a chance to enjoy a picnic under the shade of towering trees while observing animals in their enclosures.

The winter rush has proved to be a boon for caterers, tent house suppliers, and transport operators, as picnic organizers seek their services to ease the burden of planning. Many families are turning these outings into mini celebrations, with every member contributing to the menu and activities.

Chandil Dam, another popular spot, witnessed heavy footfall over the weekend. Ramesh Mehra, who visited with his family, shared his excitement: “We went on a boat ride twice today! It’s been a memorable day for us.” Local food vendors and kiosks, too, are enjoying brisk business, with long queues forming for snacks and beverages.

However, the surge in visitors has also led to some challenges. Parking lots at popular destinations are overflowing, with vehicles lining up for space, leaving the air thick with gasoline fumes. Traffic congestion has become a common sight, especially during peak hours.

Despite these minor inconveniences, the joy on the faces of picnickers is unmistakable. The season has not only brought people closer to nature but has also created a festive atmosphere across the city, making winter a much-anticipated time for all.
