Jamshedpur, Feb 04: A delegation of the Jamshedpur East segment of Krira Bharati met the Deputy Commissioner of East Singhbhum and handed him a memorandum urging that the Agrico Transport Maidan be used only for the purposes of sports and sporting activities. The delegation demanded a ban on use of the ground for other purposes like marriages, picnics, cultural and political events. It was pointed out that people attending such events cooked in the ground and left wastes lying around. The stench was disturbing people who came to exercise or play as also residents living nearby. Moreover, the holes all over the field dug for setting up pandals remained unfilled which too impeded sports. A similar letter was handed to the Jamshedpur East legislator Saryu Roy on Monday.
The Krira Bharati delegation that met the DC included Rajiv Kumar, Chandrashekhar, Satnam Singh, Subhash Kumar, Anup Kumar Singh, Sanoj Singh, Jai Hind Club members Shekhar Sahay, Shatrughan Prusti and Sanjiv Kumar.
