Jamshedpur, June 26: Sunil Gupta, a Panchayat Samiti member, recently met with Zilla Parishad President Bari Murmu and ZIP Vice President Pankaj Sinha at the Zilla Parishad office to discuss the implementation of the Hyderabad model of the Panchayati Raj system in Jharkhand.
During the meeting, Gupta requested President Bari Murmu and Vice President Pankaj Sinha to provide training to Mukhiyas (village heads), Up-Mukhiyas (deputy village heads), Panchayat Samiti members, and Ward members at the Panchayat level. The aim is to educate them about the Panchayati Raj systems implemented in other states. Additionally, Gupta urged correspondence with the government to implement an honorarium system similar to the one in Hyderabad, ensuring monthly payments through bank transactions for Panchayat Samiti members, heads, deputy heads, and ward members.
After gaining awareness about the situation, Zilla Parishad President Bari Murmu and Vice President Pankaj Sinha, who recently returned from a five-day training tour in Hyderabad, expressed their commitment to unite all Panchayat representatives and demand the implementation of the Hyderabad model of the Panchayati Raj system in Jharkhand. They emphasized the importance of active participation from Panchayat representatives in the implementation of government schemes. They also highlighted the need for coordination between officials and Panchayat representatives, which is currently lacking in Jharkhand. President Bari Murmu stated that in addition to organizing orientation and capacity-building workshops for Panchayat representatives, they will advocate for the Jharkhand government to define their roles and establish accountability in scheme implementation. They plan to conduct meetings at the Panchayat level to provide training based on the knowledge acquired during their training program, ensuring that elected Panchayat representatives are well-informed about their responsibilities.
