Jamshedpur: Displeasure was expressed over the delay in opening bank accounts for nearly 18,000 children in the district during the monthly review meeting of the Education Department, held at the Collectorate Auditorium under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Karn Satyarthi. He instructed all Block Education Extension Officers (BEEOs) and Lead District Managers (LDMs) to ensure that accounts are opened as soon as possible through mutual coordination and that all pending applications are reviewed bank-wise.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the overall performance of educational schemes, school functioning, and student welfare activities across the district’s blocks. He emphasized that the priority must be to provide quality education and a supportive learning environment to all children.
A strong directive was issued to ensure that the daily attendance of teachers and students in government and aided schools is regularly uploaded on the ‘E-Vidya Vahini’ portal. He warned that any negligence in uploading attendance will not be tolerated.
The slow pace of book and notebook distribution was another area of concern. The Deputy Commissioner instructed that all children should receive books and notebooks within the stipulated time frame. While the distribution of school bags was reported to be almost complete, he stated that if any student is found without a bag during field visits, accountability will be fixed on the responsible officer.
To enhance learning outcomes, all government schools were directed to upload subject-wise split syllabi on the ‘Guruji’ mobile app, ensuring students have a clear and structured academic roadmap.
The meeting also reviewed the implementation of the ‘Rail Project’ and the Deputy Commissioner directed schools to update all relevant activities and performance data on the ‘E-Vidya Vahini’ portal, as it is being closely monitored at the state level.
Further, the regular distribution of Iron Folic Acid (IFA) tablets to eligible students was reviewed. Teachers were instructed to ensure timely distribution of the tablets in prescribed quantities to promote student health.
The quality and hygiene of mid-day meals were also discussed. The Deputy Commissioner stressed that meals must be prepared as per the department’s prescribed menu and in clean conditions. Any compromise on quality will lead to action against the responsible officials.
Pending school infrastructure projects were reviewed in detail. Officials were directed to prepare estimates for remaining work and send proposals for approval without delay to ensure timely completion.
Other points discussed included the dropout rate, transition rate from Classes 1 to 10, availability of teaching-learning materials, learning outcomes, and the effectiveness of School Management Committees.
District Education Officer Manoj Kumar, District Education Superintendent Ashish Pandey, LDM Sanjeev Chaudhary, and all BEEOs, BPOs, BRPs, and concerned officials attended the meeting.
