Jamshedpur, April 28: Dead bodies of a young couple were found hanging from the branch of a tree at Samtanagar under Mango thana area early on Tuesday morning.
The deceased were identified as Riya Paswan (17) and Binod Yadav (20), both residents of Samtanagar.
Though in the initial probe, police maintain it to be a case of suicide, but they maintain that the investigation is on and that the murder angle also could not be ruled out.
OC, Mango thana, Mithilesh Kumar said they brought down the bodies from the tree and sent it to the MGM Medical College mortuary for post-mortem.
“It is too early to comment. As both the deceased were neighours and had reportedly affair between themselves, they might have committed suicide due to protest from their respective famely members. But we have also talking to the family members of both so as to find out whether the young couple had fallen victim to honour-killing or not,” said the OC.
A local resident said that Riya who was a plus-two student of Delhi Public School in Mango had an affair with Binod, who was a student of a Mango-based college.
” Riya’s brother had spotted his sister with Binod together somewhere in Mango. Having come to know about their closeness, he had restricted the movement of his sister, leading the love-birds continuing to keep in contact over the cellphones,” said the resident on condition of anonymity.
