DC and SP discuss extremism and other issues

Seraikela: The deputy commissioner of Seraikela-Kharsawan Ramesh Gholap today convened a meeting with the SP Rakesh Bansal and other district officials to review policing in extremism-hit areas and various government policies meant for development and welfare of remote and rural areas.

Addressing the meeting held at the DC Office auditorium, the DC said that the state government had offered a number of benefits for Naxalites willing to give up violence and join the social mainstream.

He said those willing to lead a normal life will be linked to various profitable activities such as fishery and dairy farming to earn their living.

The DC discussed the issue of extremism and efforts to bring back Naxalites to social mainstream with the SP and sought his suggestions on the issue.

He said the youths of extremism-hit areas should be given employment under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.
