Jamshedpur, March 12: East Singhbhum district administration has directed the Jamshedpur Cooperative College management to hand over their premises for setting up of strong room for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Deputy Commissioner cum Returning Officer Amit Kumar has sent a letter to the Principal of the college seeking acquisition of the entire college premises from 15th March till the completion of elections.
Sources said the main building and other blocks of the college would be used for safe storage of EVMs and VVPATs. Paramilitary personnel will guard the strong room day and night till the day of counting of votes. In Jamshedpur, elections will be held on 12th May while counting of votes will take place on 23rd May. In Jharkhand, elections will be held in four phases.
