DC holds meeting with representatives of political parties in Jamshedpur

Discusses poll preparation, key issues, seeks cooperation

Jamshedpur, Feb 27: East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar Wednesday convened a meeting with the representatives of various political parties to discuss preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He discussed about shifting of polling booths, use of EVMs and VVPATs during election and C-Vigil App among other issues and sought their cooperation in smooth preparation and conduct of polls.

During discussions, the participants unanimously decided to give their consent on 23 out of a total of 25 proposals. EVM and VVPAT units were also demonstrated to the participants. The participants were also informed about C-Vigil App through a video clip which would be used to bring about transparency in cases pertaining to violation of the Model Code of Conduct. Besides political parties, common people would also be informed about the App so that they may upload the video of Model Code violation on the said App and inform the authorities concerned. Action would be taken under 100 minutes, said the DC.

Kumar informed the representatives of political parties about the voter help line number 1950 which is a toll free phone number. He said all voters should be informed about this facility.

DDC B Maheshwari and other district officials were also present at the meeting.
