DC holds meeting with DLC to maximize voters� turnout in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, May 9: East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner cum Returning Officer Amit Kumar held a meeting with Deputy Labour Commissioner (DLC) and Labour Superintendents of Jamshedpur on Thursday to strategize on maximization of voters� turnout.

The DC directed all district officials concerned including labour superintendents to ensure participation of maximum number of voters in election. He ordered formation of team to conduct surprise inspection of malls, cinemas, shops and other commercial establishments on 12th May to see if they were closed or not. Videography would be done before taking action against the managers or authorities concerned for not complying with the administrative order to remain shut on voting day, he said.

District administration officials said emergency services will be exempted from closure on the day of polling. Medicine shops, hospitals and nursing homes and petrol pumps will remain open on this day, officials said.

The DC asked the labour department officials to ensure that all workers get paid leave on polling day. Stringent action would be taken against companies and other establishments for not granting paid leave to their employees, he said.
