Jamshedpur, Sep 5: The deputy Mukhiyas of South Karandih panchayat on Tuesday met the DC Amit Kumar and submitted a demand memorandum after one of the deputy Mukhiya Monika Hembram was accused of interfering with the work of local Mukhiya Saraswati Tudu.
DC assured the delegation led by Sunil Gupta, leader of the agitating deputy Mukhiyas, of taking action against the accused Mukhiya whose name has surfaced in a scam related to construction of toilets in South Karandih panchayat DC said that the Mukhiyas of the Jamshedpur block who have been found involved in irregularities are being strictly dealt with. DC also asked the Mukhiyas not to blame each other and focus on development of the panchayat.
District panchayat raj officer RK Mishra, said, soon a joint meeting of the Mukhiyas and deputy Mukhiyas will be held at block development office and they will be asked to work according to the guidelines issued by the government.
It may be noted that Deputy Mukhiyas on Monday threatened to tender mass resignation in support of Monika Hembram, a deputy Mukhiya, accused of interfering with the work of local Mukhiya Saraswati Tudu.
Sunil Gupta, leader of the agitating deputy Mukhiyas, said the Mukhiya was venting her ire on her deputies after her name surfaced in the toilet scam. He said the deputy Mukhiyas had never interfered with the Mukhiyas�s work and that they had only asked the Mukhiya to follow departmental norms.
